About Us
Our journal serves as a testament to this legacy, offering a scholarly platform for physicians to share knowledge, contribute original research, and engage in meaningful discourse, thereby elevating healthcare standards in Tamil Nadu and beyond.
The oft-repeated desire of many was changed to reality when a group of physicians met in Madras (Chennai) on this day in 1944 and decided to form an association. They drew a memorandum on a set of bye laws, and registered a body in Madras on 23rd December, 1944 and called it 'THE ASSOCIATION OF PHYSICIANS OF INDIA'. The Association of Physicians of India (API) was initially formed and inaugurated in Chennai (then Madras) in 1944. Dr. Guruswamy Mudaliar was a pivotal figure in its establishment.
The API Chennai City Branch played a crucial role in the formation of the Tamil Nadu State Chapter of API in 2005. Dr. S.N. Narasingan (Secretary of the Chennai Chapter) and Dr. M.S. Amaresan (Chairman of the Chennai Chapter), along with Dr. S.S. Lakshmanan, Dr. Vijay Viswanathan, Dr. P. Soundararajan, and other Executive Committee members, were instrumental in establishing this state-level association.
The journal is published as a quarterly issue.
